Union Labor Health Foundation (ULHF) Community Health Grants support health related projects and programs in Humboldt County.
The Foundation provides funding to projects or institutions that
nurture, foster, encourage, support and educate in order to enhance the
wellbeing of each individual within the
County of Humboldt.
Applications are accepted on March 1 and September 1. Grants are generally under $10,000 but applications for larger grants are accepted after consultation with ULHF’s Executive Director

GUIDELINES AND HOW TO APPLY >
The Foundation is looking for projects that:
- Nurture,
foster, encourage, support and educate, in order to enhance the wellbeing of residents of the County of Humboldt,
- Increase access and/or service delivery for underserved populations,
- Have a lasting impact or a plan for sustainability after ULHF grant funding is expended.
Priority for funding will be given to projects that:
- Build ~ collaborative relationships and partnerships,
- Engage ~ community members in planning, implementation and evaluation,
- Develop ~ and strengthen community leadership,
- Leverage ~ matching funding or resources for the organization.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants
must be nonprofit charitable or public benefit (federal tax exempt)
organizations, public schools, government agencies, Indian tribal
governments or have a qualified fiscal sponsor.
- Projects must
benefit the communities within Humboldt County. All organizations from
outside this service area must demonstrate that they are working with a
county based group to develop and implement the proposed project.
- Grants
cannot be made for expenses outside the service area such as travel
expenses of schools or groups for trips, “good will” ambassadors, or
scholarships and fellowships to other countries.
- Grants cannot
be made for the infrastructure, deferred maintenance or annual
operating costs of public institutions, churches, services of special
tax districts, or government agencies.
- Grants cannot be made
for religious activities or projects that exclusively benefit the
members of sectarian or religious organizations.
- Grants cannot pay for expenses that have already been incurred.
